We isolate on the meter first to confirm the loss is supply-side, then use acoustic listening equipment and a thermal camera to narrow it — usually to within a foot or so — before anything is opened.

And frequently the better answer is not to open the slab at all. Abandoning the failed run and rerouting it overhead or through a wall is often cheaper, faster and much less disruptive than breaking concrete, repairing and repouring. We price both.
